Making our Mark in the Pre-owned Fashion Category with The Next Closet

Poor fit remains one of the core reasons why clothes are returned, and this issue is compounded in the resale market as 100% of the pre-owned inventory is single sized. With approximately $642.6 billion worth of apparel and footwear being returned to stores each year, sizing returns are definitely a cause for concern.
"The process of reversing an online order has many steps and includes the cost of the delivery as well as the many touches — each of which comes with a labor cost — that move the item back into inventory."
David Egan, global head of industrial and logistics research at CBRE
Good news is, we're here to save the day.

We have made our mark by mitigating the sizing issue in the pre-owned fashion category, with The Next Closet (TNC) now on board our list of partnerships with leading online fashion retailers. Based in the Netherlands, TNC is the leading peer-to-peer marketplace and community platform for preloved designer fashion.

As a supporter of sustainable fashion, we are also proud to announce that this partnership marks our first step in being part of the circular and sustainable economy.

'Circular fashion' can be defined as clothes, shoes or accessories that are designed, sourced, produced and provided with the intention to be used and circulate responsibly and effectively in society for as long as possible in their most valuable form, and hereafter return safely to the biosphere when no longer of human use.
— Dr. Anna Brismar, 2017, circularfashion.com
The rise of the conscious consumer has seen clothing, footwear and bags alike being considered as "tradable assets". What this means is that the lifespan of fashion products is now becoming more elastic, making apparel rotation more prevalent today.

Our role in apparel rotation would be to assist fashion resale companies like TNC to make the process more convenient and feasible for customers and retailers alike by removing the impeding blocks to resale transactions.

At the end of the day, we aim to achieve what the circular economy envisions - an empty trash can.
Zero waste, zero bs - we're committed to making this happen.
